Ishan Kishan revelling in 'a lot of freedom' at SRH

‘Kishan hammered everyone to every corner’

Ishan Kishan celebrated his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by hitting his maiden IPL century, off just 45 balls, to help his side post 286 for 6 in their IPL 2025 opener against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal.”I just feel good,” he told the official broadcasters Jiostar. “It [century] was coming. I was hoping for it in the previous years, but it’s good to get it this season. The team is doing well, the environment is very different. I’m just loving everything overall, just let’s try and get a few more innings like this for the team.”Related

Kishan came into bat at No. 3 on the back of a 45-run opening stand off just 3.1 overs. He was involved in two big partnerships – 85 (off 38 balls) with Travis Head and 72 (off 29 balls) with Nitish Reddy as SRH fell one short of the all-time IPL record which they set last year. “The skipper, he’s giving a lot of freedom to everyone,” Kishan said. “Doesn’t matter if you get a lot of runs or if you get out early. Until and unless you’re doing everything for the team, it’s all fair. That’s the confidence every player in the team needs, so hats off to him and the management.”Kishan spoke of drawing confidence from the way Abhishek Sharma and Head started and underlined their plans of targeting RR’s key bowlers straightaway. He finished unbeaten on 106 off just 47 balls – his century is the third-fastest for SRH, behind Travis Head (41 balls) and David Warner (43 balls).”When Abhishek and Head started, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters in the dugout,” Kishan said. “Credit goes to them also. Whenever you get such good starts, you just have to go. You can take a few balls if you want.”It gives a lot of benefit to the No. 3 and No. 4 batters [in getting their eye in]. Credit goes to them. The pitch was really good, we were just trying to get them under pressure at any point of time, trying to get all their best bowlers to bowl around the 12-13th over, so that worked our way.”

West Ham make approach for 25 y/o ace who stunned Cole Palmer last season

West Ham have now made a formal approach for a “brilliant” player in the summer transfer window, according to an update from journalist Alex Crook.

Potter admits he's ready to sell West Ham star

There is still time for the Hammers to sort out some important business this summer, both in terms of new signings and current players who could move on.

One such figure who falls into the latter category is Maxwel Cornet, with Graham Potter admitting earlier this week that a move away from West Ham makes sense for him before the window slams shut on September 1st.

“He’s at a stage in his career where he needs to play regularly. At the moment, it’s difficult for me to guarantee that. He’s been brilliant to work with, I must say. A really good part of the group. He’s fit and in a good place. But he’s got Afcon coming up and sometimes a player gets to the point where they do need to make a little change.”

In terms of potential summer signings for West Ham, Club Brugge and Nigeria midfielder Raphael Onyedika is seen as a key target, with the Hammers reportedly accelerating their efforts to sign him, and they are also said to be leading the battle to sign Cagliari striker Roberto Piccoli. Now, another name has been thrown into the mix.

West Ham make approach for "brilliant" ace

Taking to X, talkSPORT‘s Crook claimed that West Ham have formally approached Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen over a summer move to the club.

This is a deal that makes sense for both the Hammers and Hermansen, allowing the east Londoners to strengthen their goalkeeping options, and ensuring the player himself returns to the Premier League after Leicester’s relegation to the Championship.

The 25-year-old started 27 league games for the Foxes last season, being relegated but still showing he can perform in the top flight, being described as “brilliant” by Mark Schwarzer after saving a penalty from Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

Meanwhile, Hermansen has represented Denmark across five different youth age groups, highlighting his potential from a young age, although he is still awaiting his first cap at senior level.

'He has very strong sperm!' – Wayne Rooney reveals hilariously awkward first encounter between ex-Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal and wife Coleen

England legend Wayne Rooney has opened up on the hilariously awkward first encounter between former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal and his wife, Coleen. Rooney was an important figure in the United squad managed by the legendary Dutch manager between 2014 and 2016. Together they won the FA Cup in the 2015-16 campaign, but it wasn't enough to keep Van Gaal in the job.

    WHAT ROONEY SAID

On show, the 39-year-old said: "I loved him, he was so funny. The first time we met Coleen we had, like, a lunch and all the players, the players' wives, girlfriends, all the staff were there. And then he come up to Coleen – first ever time he's met her – and he went to her, "Your children, they look very much like the father." And she was like, "Yeah." And he went, "He has very strong sperm!". That was first time he met her."

Rooney then added: "She was like, "Err….". Yes, just move on! I really liked him as a person, different and funny but as a coach I learned probably more from him than anyone else."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Van Gaal, who won multiple trophies in the Netherlands, Spain and Germany, took charge of United ahead of the 2014-15 campaign. He was the second head coach at Old Trafford in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, following David Moyes. Despite his reputation, the Dutchman did not have much success and his spell ended in the summer of 2016 after the Red Devils won the FA Cup.

'You should be utterly ashamed' – Netherlands torn apart by ex-Real Madrid & Tottenham star after narrow escape against Lithuania

Memphis Depay’s record-breaking brace saved Netherlands from an embarrassing setback in Lithuania, but Rafael van der Vaart was far from impressed.

Depay’s double rescued Netherlands in shaky winRafael van der Vaart blasted the Dutch playersDepay became the national team's all-time top scorerFollow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Netherlands international Van der Vaart has launched a scathing attack on the national team following their nervy 3-2 World Cup qualifying win in Lithuania. Speaking on , the ex-Tottenham and Real Madrid star insisted the players "should be ashamed of themselves" for their complacent performance, which saw them throw away a 2-0 lead before half-time.

AdvertisementAFPTHE BIGGER PICTURE

The severe criticism from a respected former player highlights the growing unease surrounding the Dutch team's performances under Ronald Koeman. Despite securing a vital three points to remain top of Group G, the manner of the victory exposed a mental fragility and "nonchalance," according to Van der Vaart. His public condemnation, particularly of midfielder Jerdy Schouten, intensifies the pressure on a squad that was also held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Poland just days earlier.

Despite the team's poor performance, Depay's double in the match took his international tally to 52 goals, officially making him the Netherlands' all-time leading goalscorer by surpassing Robin van Persie's previous record of 50.

WHAT VAN DER VAART SAID?

The former Ajax star said: "First of all, you should be utterly ashamed. Of course, you want to get off to a good start in a game, and that's what they managed. And then you let it slip away. That says something about the nonchalance that everyone seems to possess.

"Schouten does nothing at all. Everyone thinks: it'll be fine, it'll be fine, and no one intervenes. And that's almost like refusing to do your job."

He called it "a miracle" that Schouten was allowed to play on, adding: "I'm actually a fan of his, but today was dramatic."

Friedkin Group in contact to sign "talented" £26m Ligue 1 ace for Everton

Everton are now said to have entered the race to complete the signing of a “talented” midfield player during the summer transfer window.

Everton make call to sign star winger

The Blues still have over a month to bring in new signings, ahead of an exciting era at the club, with PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko emerging as an eye-catching target.

Everton are believed to be among a host of clubs who have “called” about a potential move for the 22-year-old Belgian, according to an update from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Bakayoko is far from the only young target for the Blues, however, with talks reportedly taking place with Manchester City attacking midfielder James McAtee over a move to Merseyside.

He played a key role in England’s Under-21s winning the European Championships earlier this summer, and could be a fantastic long-term option for Everton, providing so much guile and quality.

Everton make contact sign "talented" midfielder ahead of Roma

Now, according to a fresh report from TEAMtalk, Everton have “joined the race” to sign highly-rated Lens midfielder Neil El Aynaoui this summer ahead of AS Roma.

The 24-year-old is valued at £26m by his current club and there could now be a tug of war between two teams who have the same owners in The Friedkin Group. Everton have been in contact over a deal by recently asking for information regarding a transfer.

RC Lens'NeilElAynaouishakes hands with Juma Bah

El Aynaoui could be a strong addition for Everton, at a time when midfield reinforcements are important, given the fact that Abdoulaye Doucoure has moved on and Idrissa Gueye is now well into his 30s.

The Moroccan operates mainly as a box-to-box midfielder, but is also adept at taking up a more disciplined role in the middle of the park, with journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter describing him as a “highly talented” player.

Last season, Aynaoui scored eight goals in just 17 starts in Ligue 1, highlighting the level of end product he is capable of from his midfield role, but he also averaged 1.6 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game at the same time, showing that he can be a force both in and out of possession.

That is exactly what Everton need this summer, and at 24 years of age, the Lens ace is likely to have his peak years ahead of him, which David Moyes would no doubt love to see happen under his management. It feels like a deal that is very much worth pushing hard to get over the line.

Liverpool now willing to sell £50m+ star as he demands same wages as Wirtz

After signing Florian Wirtz for a British-record £116m on a contract worth £200,000-a-week, Liverpool are now reportedly willing to sell one of their star men after he demanded to match that salary.

Liverpool unveil Florian Wirtz

Not many gave Liverpool a chance when rumours initially emerged that they were battling Bayern Munich and Manchester City for Wirtz’s signature, but the German’s mind was soon made up and football’s latest open secret quickly stole the headlines. With a Premier League winners’ medal around his neck following his first season at Anfield, Arne Slot now arguably has the best No.10 that European football has to offer at his disposal.

Wirtz didn’t come cheap, but talents of his calibre rarely do in today’s market and that record price-tag will quickly become worth it if he replicates his Bayer Leverkusen numbers during his time at Anfield.

It’s no surprise that Liverpool decided to make their new signing one of their highest earners, either, with reports suggesting that he’ll earn around £200,000-a-week in Merseyside – a salary that only Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk better on the Reds’ wage bill.

After putting pen to paper, Wirtz explained his move – telling Liverpool’s official media channels: “I just thought that it was the right point in my career to make the next step and of course I wanted to get to a club that is from the top three in the world, and in my opinion Liverpool was one of them.”

Despite spending big money on their new signing, however, it seems as though Liverpool are not prepared to do the same to keep hold of one of their star defenders this summer.

Liverpool now willing to sell Konate

According to Caught Offside, Richard Hughes and Liverpool are now willing to sell Ibrahima Konate this summer for around €60m (£51m) after he demanded a wage increase to £200,000-a-week at Anfield.

With just one year remaining on the Frenchman’s current deal too, the Reds are desperate to avoid a repeat of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit as a free agent and have reportedly set a contract deadline until the end of the summer.

What only adds fuel to the fire of Konate’s current position are reports that Liverpool are now looking to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer. Whilst, as things stand, it seems as though the Palace man would be replacing the Leverkusen-bound Jarrel Quansah, there’s no doubt that the Reds will be well aware that he could also solve their Konate problem.

Whether Guehi can truly match Konate’s quality will be the big question if the move happens. It would certainly be a bold move by all those involved at Anfield.

Man Utd now open to offering Joshua Zirkzee in swap deal to sign £85m star

Still on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, Manchester United are now reportedly open to offering Joshua Zirkzee in a summer swap deal to sign one particular target worth a hefty £85m.

Man Utd could face Gyokeres and Mbeumo rejection

Whilst their recruitment of Matheus Cunha gave them plenty of hope that last season’s failure wouldn’t stand in the way of much-needed additions this summer, Viktor Gyokeres and Bryan Mbeumo could quickly flip that narrative.

It’s a fairly open secret that the Red Devils are in pursuit of the duo, with Fabrizio Romano even going as far as to suggest that they’ve been constantly contacting Gyokeres, but that pursuit could yet end in failure.

Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham Hotspur has suddenly seen the North London side come sprinting into the race for Mbeumo’s signature and reports are claiming that the Lilywhites have met the forward’s £70m price tag. United, meanwhile, have already seen one bid rejected for the Brentford star.

Losing out on two attacking targets would be a frustrating blow for United, but losing out to two rivals in Arsenal and Tottenham would add further salt to their wounds.

Those at Old Trafford may have no choice but to dust themselves off and go again, however. Just who they turn to if they miss out on Mbeumo and Gyokeres is the big question. On that front, names such as Antoine Semenyo and an impressive £85m striker have already been mentioned among those that United may begin to chase.

Man Utd open to swap deal for Ekitike involving Zirkzee

That £85m name is of course Hugo Ekitike. According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are now open to offering Joshua Zirkzee in a swap deal to sign Ekitike. Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly value the Frenchman at €100m (£85m), but the inclusion of Zirkzee in any deal could help bring that hefty figure down.

Whilst there may well be a concern over just how much Ekitike has underperformed when it comes to matching his expected goals, there’s no doubt that he’d be an instant upgrade on Zirkzee for Ruben Amorim this summer.

The Dutchman struggled to leave his mark in his debut season, making it harder and harder to justify his £105,000-a-week salary. Now, just one year later, he could find himself replaced and shown the exit door in one swift move.

Described as “strong” by analyst Ben Mattinson, who was full of praise for the Frenchman back in March, Ekitike is undoubtedly one to watch this summer. He won’t come cheap, but if Manchester United can find a way past the forward’s hefty price tag, then he is one that they should prioritise.

Scouts sent: Crystal Palace racing to sign "impressive" Serie A defender

Amid doubts over Marc Guehi’s future at the club, Crystal Palace are now reportedly racing to sign a Serie A defender who they’ve already scouted throughout the current campaign.

Crystal Palace in form ahead of Wembley

In a week that could yet end in history, Crystal Palace couldn’t be in better form heading into this weekend’s FA Cup final against Manchester City. The Eagles haven’t tasted defeat in any of their last five games and looked a class above Tottenham Hotspur last time out as they eased to a 2-0 victory against their London rivals.

Oliver Glasner is well aware that victory over Tottenham was just a good start in an all-important week, however, after revealing how Crystal Palace will prepare for the FA Cup final this week.

The Austrian told reporters: “Yes, we will meet tomorrow (Monday). The players who started (against Spurs) will recover, the others will have a good and intense session.

“Then there will be Tuesday off. The players deserve to recover, and, of course, the staff have already started to prepare. We will watch a few Man City clips as well, and Wednesday will be the start with the preparation for Man City.

“But we can’t do something different. It also makes no sense (to do that). It’s (about) showing what we can (do), who we are on our best level, and this is how we will enter the final, and then let’s see. Then, it’s football and everything can happen.”

Crystal Palace's MarcGuehireacts after the match

Meanwhile, amid the chaos of potential silverware, Crystal Palace have also had to keep one eye on the fast-approaching summer transfer window. Amid reports that Guehi is set to be at the centre of interest from the likes of Newcastle United yet again, the Eagles have reportedly set their sights on a potential replacement.

Crystal Palace scout Bologna defender Lucumi

According to The Boot Room, Crystal Palace are now looking to sign Jhon Lucumi from Bologna this summer after Steve Parish sent scouts on a fresh mission to watch the defender. Racing alongside the likes of Liverpool and Leeds United, those at Selhurst Park should push to sign the Serie A star as soon as they can, especially if Guehi does depart.

As the numbers show, Lucumi would be capable of stepping in and replacing Guehi in South London. What instantly stands out is how the Bologna defender has outperformed the Crystal Palace star when it comes to tackles and ball recoveries whilst almost matching him for progressive passes per 90.

Described as “ridiculously impressive” by analyst Ben Mattinson last year, Lucumi looks destined for a move away from Italy. Whether that means a move to Crystal Palace is set to take place remains to be seen, however. It’s clear that he is talented enough for the Premier League, though.

Celtic must rue losing "exciting" gem who's now playing like a £100m star

Celtic are closing in on a fourth successive Scottish Premiership title and are in the semi-finals of the SFA Cup, with a chance to clinch a domestic treble.

Their ongoing success on the pitch this season has not stopped the club from looking to bolster their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window, though, as they have already agreed to sign Kieran Tierney on a free transfer.

The Scotland international is returning to Parkhead for the first time since his £25m move to Arsenal in the summer of 2019, which made him the most expensive Hoops academy graduate in history.

Most expensive Celtic academy graduate sales

Celtic have produced some excellent players from their academy, as the likes of Andy Robertson, Aaron Hickey, and Ben Doak have come through the youth set-up, but they have not always extracted great value out of their young talents.

Tierney’s £25m move to Arsenal is one of only three sales in the club’s history involving an academy graduate that was worth more than £1.6m, as shown in the table below.

The Hoops have not been able to consistently produce high-value assets that they have been able to sell for millions, which is something that they may look to improve on in the coming years.

Where Are They Now

Your star player or biggest flop has left the club but what are they doing in the present day? This article is part of Football FanCast’s Where Are They Now series

Celtic, actually, had an exciting young academy prospect on their hands last season in the form of Rocco Vata, before they failed to convince him to extend his contract at Parkhead, and he left to join Watford for a compensation fee of £250k.

Rocco Vata is now being compared to a £100m talent

The Ireland international scored 23 goals in 34 B team matches for the Scottish giants, but only played three minutes in the Scottish Premiership last season before his exit last summer.

Rocco Vata

Since joining Watford, Vata has scored four goals and provided three assists in 33 first-team matches for the Hornets in all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign, and has earned a comparison to a player who has been valued at a whopping £100m.

Oxford City scout and recruitment analyst Hayden on X compared the Irish whiz to Tyler Dibling, suggesting that he would be a suitable alternative to teams interested in the Southampton teen, and that he was “impressed” by the Watford star.

The Saints have reportedly placed a £100m price tag over Dibling’s head, despite the 19-year-old having produced two goals and zero assists in 28 Premier League games this season.

Vata, who talent scout Jacek Kulig claimed has an “exciting” future, has scored three goals, created four ‘big chances’, and delivered three assists in 29 appearances in the Championship for the Hornets, showing great promise at such a young age.

It remains to be seen whether or not Southampton will sell Dibling for £100m or how much Watford would demand for their Irish 19-year-old starlet, but he appears to be on track to be another player Celtic have lost before they could extract maximum value from them.

The next Liel Abada: Celtic plotting exciting move for £3m star

Celtic are reportedly interested in signing a star who could be Liel Abada 2.0 fo the club.

1 ByDan Emery Apr 14, 2025

The Hoops must, therefore, regret not being able to keep hold of him last summer because he is a talented young prospect who could have had an exciting future at Parkhead, given his first-team emergence in the English Championship this term and the comparison to a £100m-rated starlet.
