Eu no dia a dia estou me esforçando bastante para conversar, entrosar.

Newcastle must pull off last-gasp transfer for Brentford star Said Benrahma

According to The Daily Star, Newcastle are still in pursuit of Brentford winger Said Benrahma.

What’s the word?

With the deadline to do deals between Premier League and EFL clubs not until October 16, the Magpies are still able to make signings from the Championship and lower.

And as per The Daily Star, Steve Bruce’s side remain in the hunt to sign Algeria international Benrahma, who enjoyed a sterling campaign with the Bees last season, scoring 17 goals across all competitions as they reached the play-off final.

With recent reports claiming that West Ham’s potential move for Benrahma seemingly falling through, it appears a door has very much opened for Newcastle to potentially steal in at the last minute.

Shades of Saint-Maximin

Given his performances in the Championship last season, it’s no surprise to see Premier League clubs be willing to pay big-money to sign Benrahma in this window – it was even suggested that West Ham had made an offer worth £30m for the attacker.

Like Newcastle’s very own Allan Saint-Maximin, the Brentford ace is sparkling with the ball at his feet, capable of creating something out of nothing. As per Whoscored, he averaged 3.8 shots, 2.1 key passes and three dribbles per game in the previous league campaign, numbers that are very favourable when compared to the Magpies’ magic wide-man.

Saint-Maximin averaged a whopping 4.7 dribbles per match in the top-flight, although his shots (1.8) and key passes (1.3) are considerably lower than Benrahma.

Such is Benrahma’s ability with the ball, that Brentford B’s assistant coach, Sam Saunders, even raved that he “could nutmeg a mermaid”. His teammate, Henrik Dalsgaard, added: “He’s such a tricky player, you think you’ve got him locked in the corner and then, all of a sudden, he’s out.”

If Newcastle can pull off a stunning last-gasp swoop for Benrahma, it could be one of the steals of the entire transfer window.

And in other news, Newcastle must show no mercy to this ace.

Crystal Palace must convince West Brom target Andros Townsend to sign a new contract

Rarely a day goes by without Crystal Palace facing the same old questions about Wilfried Zaha’s future at Selhurst Park, but Roy Hodgson may have a more urgent matter on his hands if recent reports are to be believed…

What’s the story?

Recent reports had revealed that newly-promoted Premier League side West Bromwich Albion were interested in signing Andros Townsend in the summer transfer window.

However, a move failed to materialise, and the 29-year-old stayed at Selhurst Park. But his future is far from certain, as he has entered the final year of his current contract, which is set to expire in June 2021.

According to The Mirror, as relayed by HITC, Hodgson wants to give the winger a new deal, which would prevent him from leaving for free next summer.

Now, Palace chairman Steve Parish must convince Townsend to sign a new contract, as he has played in every single minute of Palace’s six Premier League games this season so far.

Shrewd move?

As far as we are concerned, Townsend has turned out to be one of the most reliable players at the club in recent years. In fact, he last suffered an injury during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, which speaks volumes about his professionalism and fitness levels. The former England international, who previously played for Newcastle United, Queens Park Rangers, and Watford, among others, made 93 appearances for Spurs, and scored 11 goals and supplied 15 assists in all competitions, via Transfermarkt.

He has since gone on to make over 150 appearances for Palace, and played 24 games in the Premier League last term, whilst he scored one goal, supplied one assist, and made 1.6 dribbles per game, as per WhoScored. Not exactly numbers that you would expect to see from a right winger, but he has already bettered his tally this term, as he has scored one goal and supplied two assists in the English top flight so far.

Townsend played some of the best football of his career so far for Palace in the 2017/18 season, where he scored twice and created seven assists in the Premier League, and made 1.7 shots, 1.8 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game, via WhoScored, whilst Hodgson hailed him as a “fantastic” player for his remarkable efforts.

It’s safe to say that Palace enjoyed a summer spending spree, as they recruited the likes of Eberechi Eze and Michy Batshuayi to bolster their attack. After a bright start to the season, their performances soon tailed off, as they suffered back-to-back defeats to Everton and Chelsea, before bouncing back with a 2-1 win over Fulham.

SofaScore gave Townsend a high grade of 7.6 for his heroics at Craven Cottage – he created one big chance, made three key passes, as well as won eleven out of twenty ground duels, whilst football.london gave him a similar score, claiming he “put in a couple of dangerous crosses in the first half, including one from which Zaha should have done better. His work rate and a great pass for Batshuayi led to the second goal.”

One thing’s for sure, the Palace chairman must tie the £8.55m-rated ace down to a new deal. Whether or not he will be able to produce the same level of consistency for the rest of the season remains to be seen, but, at this stage, it’s surely a win-win situation. Get it done, Eagles.

AND in other news, Crystal Palace ace Jairo Riedewald dominated the midfield battle against Fulham…

Brighton & Hove Albion: David Button could join West Brom for £1m as transfer talks begin

Brighton goalkeeper David Button could soon be on his way out of the club amid reports of Premier League interest.

The Telegraph journalist John Percy tweeted (via @JPercyTelegraph) that the Seagulls are in talks with newly-promoted West Brom over a potential deal for the 31-year-old, with a fee of roughly £1m set to be paid if the deal goes through.

Button joined Brighton from Fulham two years ago for £4.05m (as per TransferMarkt) but has had to be content with a backup role amid the near-constant presence of Mat Ryan as first-choice ‘keeper at the Amex Stadium.

The 31-year-old has played just 11 times for the Seagulls, with only three appearances last term (all in cup competitions) and a mere four in the Premier League, which came midway through the 2018/19 campaign when Ryan was away with Australia at the Asian Cup.

Button had the unenviable distinction of being named in the matchday squad for every league game last season but failing to make a single appearance, warming the bench for the full duration of all 38 matches (as per TransferMarkt).

While that suggests that he was Graham Potter’s go-to alternative for Ryan, the competition for goalkeeping places at the Amex has been amplified by the return of Christian Walton from his loan spell at Blackburn, where the 24-year-old was ever-present in their Championship campaign. Jason Steele is also available as an option between the sticks.

With a respectable if unspectacular concession rate of 13 goals in his 11 games for Brighton (1.18 per game), Button has done little wrong during his time in Sussex.

However, with Walton buoyed by his year at Blackburn and no sign of Ryan being displaced any time soon, it’s unsurprising that the ex-Fulham ‘keeper may be seeking a new challenge, especially at 31, and it seems like just a matter of time before his exit is confirmed.

Brighton fans, what have you made of Button during his time at the Amex? Would it be a mistake to let him leave this year? Comment below with your views!

Everton can land Ancelotti’s new Koulibaly in Tosin Adarabioyo

According to The Times’ Paul Hirst, Everton are one of the clubs interested in signing Manchester City starlet Tosin Adarabioyo.

What’s the word?

The 22-year-old has yet to break through into the City first-team at the Etihad, making just eight appearances for the senior side. Last season, he spent the entire campaign on loan at Championship outfit Blackburn, establishing himself as a key part of the team, featuring 34 times in the league alone.

How big of an Everton fan are you? Can you spot Mikel Arteta from Graham Stuart? This quiz will test your knowledge, try it if you’re brave enough…

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

Now, Hirst claims that Adarabioyo has told Pep Guardiola’s team that he wants to leave the club in this summer transfer window, and is already attracting interest from the likes of Everton, Fulham, West Ham, Brighton and several leading Championship clubs.

A new Koulibaly for Ancelotti?

Standing at an imposing 6 foot 5, Adarabioyo is already a physically imposing defender, but his teammate at Blackburn last season, Darragh Lenihan, insisted he has far more to his game.

He said: “He’s brilliant. His distribution is excellent, he’s quick, he’s big, he has all the attributes. I’ve said to him that he has all the attributes to play for Manchester City in my opinion. He’s here to learn, and help us out, but he’s a fantastic player.”

Ancelotti of course knows all about managing elite defenders over the course of his career in the dugout, with his former side Napoli boasting one of the world’s best in Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Senegal international is a difficult opponent for players to get past, boasting a higher than 55% success rate in both ground and aerial duels last season in Serie A. Adarabioyo is of a similar mould, and whilst of course people shouldn’t get too carried away with his numbers due to it being done in the Championship, it’s still incredibly impressive – he won 60% of his duels on the ground, and a whopping 70% of those contested in the air.

If Marcel Brands can work his magic and fend off the reported competition in Adarabioyo, Everton could be onto a winner.

A gente preparou bem o time, fizemos três gols lá.

Tottenham Hotspur: Danny Rose believes his Spurs career is over; good news for Jose Mourinho [Opinion]

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho wants to fill the gaps in his team’s defence as soon as possible.

Spurs have conceded more goals than Arsenal, Manchester United and Premier League champions Liverpool this season. Mourinho is in the market for a new left-back, as Ryan Sessegnon has struggled to get to grips with the position, while Ben Davies is their only specialist in that role.

Danny Rose believes that his Spurs career is over, which could be good news for Mourinho.

Last month, The Athletic revealed that Rose has extended his loan at Newcastle United until the end of the season.

The England international only made five appearances for Mourinho before being sent out on loan to Tyneside back in January. It is no secret that there is no love lost between them after the manager froze him out of his parent club.

The Magpies have made it clear that they want to keep him for as long as possible, as he has impressed for Steve Bruce’s side this season, winning two tackles per game and completing 1.4 clearances on average, with a passing accuracy rate of 76.5% (via WhoScored).

Rose feels that he is playing for his future because he doesn’t see a way back to Tottenham anytime soon. The 30-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, is keen to stay at St James’ Park.

Rose has admitted that his “days are numbered” at Spurs and it seems his 12-year spell in north London is finally coming to an end. Mourinho has insisted that he will not be a part of his plans for the future (via The Northern Echo).

As it stands, the 30-year-old, who is currently valued at £14.4m via Transfermarkt, will likely be sold in the summer. In turn, Mourinho may use the funds to find a suitable replacement to bolster his defence before the start of next season.

Tottenham fans, should Daniel Levy sell Danny Rose? Let us know in the comments below!

Arsenal: Fans turn on Edu Gaspar after reports over Patrick Vieira

Arsenal fans were turning on director of football Edu Gaspar after a report from Duncan Castles on the Brazilian’s thoughts on Patrick Vieira.

According to the journalist, the former Arsenal midfielder is ‘championing’ Vieira’s candidacy for the position of head coach, pushing the other people on the four-man committee.

The Frenchman has seemingly struggled with current club OGC Nice this season, winning just seven of their 17 Ligue 1 games this season.

His season has gone from bad to worse as the French side have been plagued with problems on and off the pitch.

On the pitch, Nice, embarrassingly, lost in the Cup to Ligue 2 strugglers Le Mans as they conceded three goals in the opening 16 minutes (via Daily Mail).

Off the pitch, he had to handle a situation which saw 18-year-old Lamine Diaby steal teammate Kasper Dolberg’s £62k watch.

Fans were hitting out at Edu after reports he wants a struggling Vieira as manager. Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:

Arsenal fans, what do you think about having Vieira as head coach? Let us know your thoughts!

Newcastle fans speak highly of Federico Fernandez

Newcastle have been without some key performers at the back this season but those who have come in to replace them have stepped up to the plate in remarkable fashion.

Steve Bruce could have been forgiven for fearing the worst after Jamaal Lascelles was ruled out until January 2020 a few weeks ago and though they lost the following game against Aston Villa they have bounced back empathically.

Federico Fernandez has played a big part in that, as the Argentine has barely put a foot wrong and has conducted himself with composure at the back, which is much-needed with the captain’s absence.

He is working very well alongside Ciaran Clark and fans are beginning to recognise their importance, though perhaps the credit ought to be directed at Bruce for his organisation and motivation of the players.

Regardless, Fernandez is a worthy target of praise considering he has averaged 6.9 clearances per league game this term and kept Lys Mousset quiet against Sheffield United.

Fernandez has worked hard to get into the position he’s in but he may need to work even harder if he is to maintain his place in the team, as Newcastle have several other capable centre-backs who will challenge his place once they are fully fit.

He has proved to Bruce that he can be relied upon though and he is key to Newcastle’s defensive style, as they invite a lot of pressure and balls into the box, which he is capable of dealing with if you look at his clearances stat.

The 30-year-old has now swayed the thinking of some Magpies’ fans too as they doubted him when he first joined, only to become one of their better and more important defenders.

Newcastle fans also took time to praise another star performer after the Sheffield United match, here is what they have had to say.
