'I know I'm doing a good job' – Shillingford

Much of West Indies’ control over Zimbabwe in the Test series so far has come through Shane Shillingford. With a five-wicket haul on the first day in Roseau, the offspinner has already taken his tally to 14 for the series. The support shown by his team-mates and the management, he said, was indicative of his good work.”(I’m) looking forward to even getting 12 in this match. Once I get the support from the captain, and the players as well, the coach and everybody, I know I’m doing a good job,” he said.Shillingford said that he changed his approach to bowling a little wide outside off stump to counter the sweep which was being employed by the right-handed batsmen.”For the right-handers, when they tried to sweep I tried not to bowl too straight but to bowl a little wider of the off-stump. I noticed they then changed their game plan. I felt our change of tactics worked quite well and we held them very tight. They had to look for other ways to score their runs.”His spell of 5 for 59 helped his side bowl Zimbabwe out for 175, 20 minutes after tea. In the only other Test he played here, against Australia last year, he took ten wickets.”Absolutely feels good, especially coming back home and performing. Coming straight from the first-class season, getting the first match and now the second match. It’s always a pleasure playing with home support and everything.”To be honest, every time West Indies come here, the guys are happy. Because they know the type of crowd they’re going to get. What I really appreciate is that Dominican people support good cricket.”But unlike Shillingford’s last Test here, the crowd is likely to see a West Indies victory this time round.

Adam Hollioake, the former England captain, has appeared in an Australian court over debts estimated at A$23m ($22m) after the property development company that he ran in Perth with his father, John, after retiring from cricket went bankrupt.Hollioake, whose company has been declared bankrupt, has appeared in court to answer questions about his financial affairs and to confirm how much money he owes to about 40 creditors, including another England captain, his Surrey and England team-mate Alec Stewart.Hollioake, 40, told the that he was a victim of the financial crisis, saying: “Alec understands the position I got myself into, as do the other creditors, apart from one who is determined to stamp me into the ground.”What happened was mostly out of my hands, although I accept that I did not apply the same professionalism in my business affairs as I did in my cricket.”There have been claims that I’ve ripped people off, run away with their money, got it all tucked away, secretly loaded myself up. The truth is, I’ve been left with nothing. Nothing, that is, except the devotion of my wife, Sherryn, and the love of my kids.”When we married I was captain of England, good looking, plenty of money, not a care in the world. Now she is married to a fat old guy, not good looking any more, and no money.”

Cummins, Steven Smith back in Australia squad

Fast bowler Pat Cummins has been named in the Australia squad for the one-day matches against Ireland and England scheduled for June this year

ESPNcricinfo staff10-May-2012Fast bowler Pat Cummins has been named in the Australia squad for the one-day matches against Ireland and England scheduled for June this year. Allrounder Steven Smith and quick Mitchell Johnson have also made a return.Cummins had been sidelined by a bone stress injury in his foot since Australia’s tour to South Africa in October-November 2011. He then missed the series against New Zealand, India and West Indies, and made a return to competitive cricket for Australia Under-19s in a quadrangular series in April. Johnson too has been out of action with an injured foot – he had done severe damage to his ligaments after being struck on the foot while batting in the Wanderers Test last November, resulting in a condition commonly referred to as ‘turf toe’.Smith, who had also last played for Australia during that tour to South Africa, is being rewarded for the fine form he showed late in the domestic season, according to national selector John Inverarity.”He [Smith] has come into strong contention for the Australian ICC World Twenty20 squad to be named in August and the national selection panel is keen to have him in the set-up in England as the reserve batsman, noting that his legspinners would provide good variation to our attack,” Inverarity said. “He [Johnson], also, is in strong contention for the ICC World Twenty20 and needs to be in the set-up and have some quality competitive cricket leading into this.Australia’s 15-man squad

Out: Daniel Christian, Peter Forrest, Nathan Lyon, Peter Nevill

“We are also excited about the return of Pat Cummins and we are looking to ease him back into the team. He will not be expected to play in all of the eight scheduled games.” Australia are scheduled to play one one-dayer against Ireland, followed by five against England, interspersed with two tour games. The players to miss out from the squad that played the limited-overs games in the West Indies are Daniel Christian, Peter Forrest, Nathan Lyon and Peter Nevill. Mitchell Starc, who featured in the Commonwealth Bank Series against India and Sri Lanka, also missed out. However, Inverarity said, Christian remained in the mix for the World Twenty20.”Dan Christian has shown what a useful allrounder he is, and is making some strong contributions. He has been omitted to make way for Mitchell Johnson, but remains very much in our plans for the ICC World Twenty20, and a distinct possibility for the ODIs and Twenty20s against Pakistan in August-September.”Nathan Lyon and Peter Nevill have not been included as Xavier Doherty has been preferred as the only spinner and Matthew Wade is the only keeper. It is a great deal easier getting replacements to England than to the West Indies, and both Nathan and Peter will be on standby should they be required.”

A gente não quer ver jogadores desfalcando o time, é difícil, é doloroso ver alguém saindo machucado.

Debutant Sunny lights up Bangladesh's day

Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Shahadat Hossain struck the first blow on Test return, but thereafter it was all about debutant Elias Sunny•Associated Press

As the sun shone after two washed-out days, the debutant left-arm spinner Elias Sunny injected some excitement into an encounter heading for only one result. He came into action after Bangladesh declared, and picked up four wickets on a pitch that’s has become highly spin-friendly but the time already lost to rain meant there won’t be much to play for barring momentum for the next Test and individual accolades. The pitch didn’t appear to have been affected much by the rain. There was limited movement but some extra bounce for the seamers; the spinners, however, got more assistance from the track than on the first day and the sharp turn was exploited by Sunny and Devendra Bishoo. The Bangladesh batsmen didn’t help their cause with some rash strokes while their counterparts were quite scratchy, struggling against the turn and bite. The hosts kept chipping away, even dislodging Shivnarine Chanderpaul just short of a pressure-relieving, fluent half-century, in a contest they’d had the better of.Sunny would have felt like a victim of some malicious conspiracy when he had two catches dropped off his bowling inside his first three overs. He is slower than his team-mate Shakib Al Hasan and gives the ball a lot more air, and was threatening when he came round the wicket, angling the ball in and getting it to spit away from a good length. He finally had his man, an unconvincing Kirk Edwards, who missed a sweep and was trapped in front, sparking wild celebrations from the debutant.Sunny, Shakib and Nasir Hossan, the other debutant spinner, were impressive bowling with close-in catchers. They often surprised the batsmen with the extra bounce, either catching the glove or a leading edge, and were unfortunate that neither short leg, silly point nor backward short leg were able to get their hands around those half-chances. But they continued creating opportunities and Sunny stood out. He saw off Darren Bravo, who stabbed at a delivery that landed in the rough to be caught at short leg.Chanderpaul, seeking to revive West Indies from 52 for 3, put on his more attacking side. A master of unsettling the bowling, whether defending or attacking, he infused life and urgency. Opener Kraigg Brathwaite blocked one end, nervy on occasion – Rubel Hossain bowled him off a no-ball – but mostly solid, while Chanderpaul eased the pressure at the other. He thrashed his first ball, off Sunny, over square leg, picked the gaps for twos and threes and stepped out to Sunny twice in an over to launch him over the long-on boundary. The pair added 62 for the fourth wicket before Brathwaite poked at a turner from Sunny to offer a bat-pad catch. The innings was rebuilding again with the experienced Samuels at the crease but he lost Chanderpaul, given out caught at slip though replays couldn’t conclusively show an inside edge. Sunny had had the last laugh. The West Indies batting undermined their efforts in the morning session, when Bishoo and Fidel Edwards shared five wickets to peg back the hosts. Despite those wickets, however, West Indies, as on the first day, offered a healthy dose of short-pitched deliveries that handed out some easy runs. The stand-out batsman in the morning was Nasir, who gave the crowd plenty to cheer about with his sprightly batting, which has already earned him two ODI half-centuries. He was especially ruthless against the bad balls, slashing and pulling the seamers and dispatching Bishoo for two fours in a cameo of 35. Joining him to walk away with praise at the end of the day was his fellow debutant.
