Well, that was a little more straightforward than most were probably expecting it would be.

Despite a season of disappointing results in the Premier League, an injury list a mile long, and a bench full of teenagers, Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea quite comfortably dispatched an almost full-strength Tottenham Hotspur side last night, much to the delight of Samford Bridge.

There were several brilliant performances from the men in Blue, and while Nicolas Jackson stood out thanks to his goal, there was another starter who was even better, and somehow, it wasn't Cole Palmer.

Jackson must love playing against Spurs as he has now scored 36% of his league goals against the Lilywhites after netting for the 11th time in the competition in the second half of last night's game.

However, it wasn't just the goal that won the 22-year-old plaudits on the night; it was his all-around game. While he might have made a few errors here and there, he was a real thorn in Spurs' side for most of the game.

He impressed football.london's Bobby Vincent on the night, with the journalist awarding the Senegalese international an 8/10 for his efforts and writing that his header was 'poacher-esque.'

However, if there are still some out there unconvinced, then they only need to take a look at his numbers from the game, as in his 89 minutes of football, he scored once, succeeded in two of his three dribbles, took two shots on target, took 30 touches, won nine of 16 duels, won a foul and even made four tackles.

This assessment of the 22-year-old's showing is backed up by his numbers. In the 96 minutes he spent on the pitch, he took 62 touches, won ten out of 12 duels, won four fouls, made five tackles, two blocks, one clearance, and one interception, didn't commit a single foul, and wasn't dribbled past once either.

Ultimately, the all-action star didn't directly contribute to either of Chelsea's goals on the night, but his overall performance cannot be overlooked as, alongside his midfield partners, he helped run the game for the Blues and was the best player on the pitch.

Aston Villa could be set to swoop for a Turkish league star this summer after Unai Emery personally approved the move, according to reports.

After the incredible progress made by Aston Villa, they would be silly not to back the Spaniard. Taking over with the club battling relegation, he has transformed them into a Premier League powerhouse once more, and they look set to return to the Champions League for the first time since the 1980s, with a seven-point advantage over 5th placed Tottenham with Ange Postecoglou's side having just three games left to play.

They could also still record silverware, though they will need a historic result against Olympiacos in Athens on Thursday after falling to a 4-2 defeat to the Greek side at Villa Park in the UEFA Conference League semi-final.

That would set up a final against one of Fiorentina and Club Brugge, and would crown what has already been an incredible campaign in the Midlands.

Transfer plans have already been put in place, with Villa seemingly set to pounce upon Spanish free agent Mario Hermoso at the request of Emery. Besiktas president Hasam Arat has claimed that he has rejected one offer and is keen to keep the Albanian beyond this summer.

The 9-cap Albania international is under contract until 2027, and taking home £49,000 per week, has shown no intention of changing clubs six months after arriving.

But that has not stopped Villa from trying, with reports from Turkey now claiming that "an official offer" is "on the way" for the midfielder, though that offer is expected to be around 15m euros, which is likely to be rejected given that a bid of 20m euros has already been turned down.

However, the deal is being pushed after Emery "gave his approval" to the deal, who could replace loanee Nicolo Zaniolo in the Aston Villa midfield. With this in mind, and given how much Emery has already had his way at Villa Park, the Midlands outfit could up their offer to get Emery his man.

Zimbabwe’s three-match ODI tour of Australia in early August has been postponed due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19.Although the series, which was set to be played in northern Australia, had been included in the schedule put out last month it was always unlikely it would take place.A range of issues have prevented the games from being played including the short length of the series, the significant bio-security measures that would need to be implemented prior to August, and concern for the health and safety of players, match officials, and volunteers.Speaking earlier this month Justin Langer indicated the matches were not on his radar when he spoke about getting the players ready for a potential return to action in September with the possibility of a rescheduled limited-overs tour to England.The matches were due to be played on August 9, 12, and 15 although only the third game had a venue confirmed with Townsville. It is the first full home series Australia have lost due to Covid-19 although the final two ODIs against New Zealand in March were cancelled after the opening game of the series was played behind closed doors at the SCG. Their Test tour to Bangladesh in June was also postponed.Outside of the 2015 World Cup it would have been Zimbabwe’s first visit to Australia since taking part in a tri-series in 2004 and Cricket Australia said they were committed to finding a future slot for the matches. LANCE!: Como foram os debates até que a Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) se tornasse o PL 5516/2019?

Rodrigo Monteiro de Castro: Este projeto foi debatido por muito tempo, com o grande apoio do senador Rodrigo Pacheco (DEM-MG). Falamos com jogadores, dirigentes, jornalistas, reguladores e investidores, e todos entenderam a magnitude das perspectivas que trazia na parte econômica e social. O que já estava maduro ficou mais amadurecido quando o senador Carlos Portinho (PL-RJ) convocou audiências públicas.

Trata-se de um projeto que reúne elementos essenciais para a construção de um novo mercado sem precedentes no futebol. É um subtipo de sociedade que se acopla ao mercado do país. A SAF impõe regras de legitimação de confiança, de segurança jurídica: regras de governança, transparência, compliance, incluindo a possibilidade de um pedido de recuperação judicial…

L!: A adesão vem sendo muito forte em Brasília…

No Senado, a aprovação aconteceu por unanimidade. Já na Câmara, foram 429 votos a favor e sete contra. Há uma sensação de convergência nacional sobre o assunto. Todos estão deixando de lado seus interesses pessoais para reestruturar um mercado que foi destruído e que no Brasil é um tema nacional em todos os rincões. Esperamos que o presidente da República compreenda e sancione a lei.

L!: A ideia de um clube-empresa ganhou projeção no Brasil na década de 1990, mas algumas tentativas não foram bem-sucedidas. Como as SAFs trarão uma mudança de fato no futebol brasileiro?

Tanto a Lei Zico quanto a Lei Pelé permitiam clubes-empresas, mas não havia um ambiente que estimulasse estas mudanças. Faltava um marco regulatório. Muitos clubes foram jogados em uma selva do mercado e atraíram histórias bastante complexas. Neste momento, estamos criando no Congresso balizas para que haja uma estrutura organizacional do futebol como um todo.

O clube que quiser se tornar uma SAF terá se adaptar também às normas que regulam os mercados.A exigência de que um investidor se revele, a necessidade de uma auditoria… É a chance de criar de um novo mercado,de uma mudança de paradigma em relação ao que acontecia anteriormente no futebol brasileiro.

L!: Naturalmente, a “migração” para uma SAF não ajudará a sanar dívidas financeiras que assolam tantos clubes?

Claro, varinha de condão só existe em fábula. Mas é uma condução necessária para prosseguir a atividade do futebol no ambiente clubístico. Separa o clube com suas questões internas e a SAF, que repactua as dívidas, recruta recursos e oferece garantias aos credores. São oferecidos caminhos.

L!: Acredita que a SAF possa ser um passo importante para dar equilíbrio ao Campeonato Brasileiro?

Ah, sem dúvida. Hoje, a competição é bastante desigual, vive quase uma “espanholização”. Vemos o Flamengo e o Palmeiras, que são clubes muito bem estruturados, disputando em todas as frentes. Já boa parte dos clubes, inclusive os tradicionais, estão atolados em dívidas. Um sistema que oferece a reorganização dos passivos financeiros e permitem captação de recursos para que os clubes voltem a crescer contribuirá tanto para o Campeonato Brasileiro, quanto para competições regionais.

L!: O futebol brasileiro pode voltar a ser atrativo aos olhos do mercado?

Vamos perceber com mais clareza quando a lei for sancionada. Mas cada clube tem de saber lidar com suas peculiaridades e determinar modelos próprios para se reestruturar. De qualquer forma, existe muito dinheiro no mundo. O futebol é um esporte muito atrativo, principalmente no Brasil.

Nottingham Forest have received a big blow with the news that a "wonderful" player is reportedly in talks with another Premier League club over a summer exit.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side are within touching distance of remaining in the top flight for another season, unless something miraculous occurs on the final day of the season. Just a draw is needed away to already-relegated Burnley, but even if the Reds lose, Luton Town would have to beat Fulham and make up a 12-goal deficit in the process.

It has been a tough campaign at the City Ground, with points deductions threatening to send them back to the Championship, but assuming they preserve their Premier League status, attention will then turn to new signings.

Toulouse centre-back Logan Costa has been linked with a summer move to Forest, with the club reportedly in contact with the 23-year-old over a move to the club, in a deal that could be worth more than £20m. Las Palmas goalkeeper Alvaro Valles is also a rumoured target again after interest in the winter window – his other suitors cannot afford to match Forest's January bid.

There are also players who Forest will be desperate to hold onto as they try to navigate the league's PSR rules, but a worrying update has dropped regarding one player who falls into that category.

According to a new report from Football Insider, Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-Whites is in talks with Tottenham over a summer move to the club.

The report states that Spurs have "held discussions" with the Englishman over a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while Newcastle United are also mentioned as potential suitors.

Losing Gibbs-White would be a monumental blow for Forest, considering he has been the standout performer at the club this season in the eyes of many. The 24-year-old has been the creative hub of his team, registering 10 assists in the Premier League, and he has also chipped in with five goals for good measure.

The £80,000-a-week midfielder has also been lauded by Glenn Murray, who hailed an assist against Luton earlier this season: "The ball for Chris Wood's goal was absolutely wonderful. The control, the turn, the ball – he didn't even have to look. He knew the area it needed to go in to and, as a former striker, he makes Chris Wood's job there so easy. He's just always positive."

Unfortunately for Forest, the lure of joining a club of Spurs' stature could be good to turn down, offering Gibbs-White a chance of testing himself in Europe, as well as arguably increasing his chances of being called up for England on a regular basis.
