O São Paulo derrotou o Bahia na noite deste sábado e encostou no líder do Campeonato Brasileiro, o Atlético-MG. Ao fim da partida na Fonte Nova, o técnico Fernando Diniz elogiou o trabalho de seus comandados e afirmou que a equipe estava treinada para encarar as mais diversas situações possíveis para o confronto em Salvador.

-Isso é uma coisa que pode acontecer. Em princípio, não é isso que está acontecendo. Se jogar um pouco mais na frente, ele está treinado para jogar. Eles treinam para jogar em várias posições. Hoje, a situação que apareceu eu achei que essa era uma das alternativas que tínhamos. O time estava bem no primeiro tempo, mas é uma questão de melhorar o time. Hoje tivemos um resultado muito positivo – afirmou o treinador ao ser questionado sobre as mudanças no intervalo e a mudança de posicionamento de Luan.

Sem conseguir atacar o Bahia no primeiro tempo, embora tivesse mais posse de bola, Diniz fez duas mudanças ousadas. Sacou o lateral Juanfran e colocou o meia-atacante Vitor Bueno, e tirou o zagueiro Léo para colocar o meia Juanfran. Com isso, o volante Luan atuou improvisado na zaga e o São Paulo teve mais homens na frente para atacar seu adversário.

A tática surtiu efeito e o Tricolor do Morumbi marcou três gols nos 45 minutos finais, dois com Luciano – um deles de bicicleta – e outro com Arboleda, de cabeça. O treinador do São Paulo voltou a bater na tecla da preparação física, afirmando que o condicionamento de sua equipe é bom.

– Temos mania de analisar um jogador de futebol por aquilo que ele é na sua parte biológica. Não trabalho assim. Como vamos falar que o time está cansado se ele só aumenta o ritmo no segundo tempo do jogo? O time está correndo, provavelmente é o menor índice de lesão do campeonato. Os dados de GPS dos nossos jogadores são muito altos. É uma média de 12km ou 13 km por jogo. Se hoje empata ou perde, coloca-se tudo na culpa da preparação física. Pra mim, não tem sentido fazer esse tipo de questionamento. O time faz todos esses jogos sem perder. Espero que daqui para frente, tomara que não aconteça o resultado adverso, isso não aconteça mais. Não trabalho dessa forma. Têm jogadores que jogam uma partida e ficam muito cansados, têm jogadores que fazem 10 ou 12 jogos e estão bem – pontuou.

Na próxima quinta, às 19h, o São Paulo encara o Goiás em partida adiada da primeira rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. A partida será disputada em Goiânia. Se vencer o lanterna da competição, o Tricolor ultrapassará o Atlético-MG e assumirá a liderança do torneio – tendo ainda um jogo a menos do que a equipe de Belo Horizonte.

Sobre rotina de treinamentos
Não é o São Paulo que tem dificuldades de jogar contra uma equipe de linha baixa. Hoje foi um jogo difícil. O Bahia tem um grande treinador, assim como o Ceará. Temos pouco tempo para treinar, mas a gente conversa. Mostramos vídeo e temos uma base para esse tipo de questão. Quando temos tempo para treinar, os movimentos ficam mais afinados. No primeiro tempo já tínhamos produzido, nosso segundo tempo foi bem agressivo. O time estava treinado para aquela situação de jogo.

Sobre o lateral Reinaldo
O Reinaldo sempre vai ser citado como exemplo de superação. É muito difícil um jogador começar como ele começou no São Paulo e dar a volta por cima. É um exemplo para nós todos. É uma liderança técnica do time e na gestão do grupo. É um dos melhores laterais-esquerdos do Brasil com certeza. É um jogador que pode postular uma vaga na Seleção também.

Writing in his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Chelsea are eyeing a move for Edmond Tapsoba, while also sharing news on Chalobah and a possible replacement.

"I can say that Chelsea are also looking into a new centre-back signing for 2024. It’s because the decision of the club – which is now 100 percent confirmed – is to sell Trevoh Chalobah in the January transfer window.

"One more player to watch is Edmond Tapsoba, he’s having a fantastic campaign with Bayer Leverkusen. He did extend his contract there in September, but there is a possibility for him to leave in 2024 with a big proposal."

Standing at 6 foot 4, Tapsoba provides an excellent physical presence at the heart of Bayer Leverkusen’s backline which he’s proven by averaging 2.6 clearances and 2.1 aerial wins per game this season in the Bundesliga (WhoScored – Tapsoba statistics).

No one around the Surrey dressing room understands the spirit of the club more than their director of cricket, Alec Stewart, who made his debut as a player in 1981 but who through his father Micky has an association with the county that goes back virtually the whole of his 55 years.The spirit of the club was uppermost in his thoughts at the close of the 2013 season when, having looked after the team since midsummer following the sacking of team director Chris Adams, he was asked to consider becoming head of the club’s cricketing operations on a permanent basis.In his head was a vision based on that Surrey spirit, a vision that has come to fruition with their first County Championship title for 16 years, when he was still a player.”I met the chairman and the chief executive and I said ‘if I’m going to come back, please let me try and do it my way’,” Stewart said, breaking away from his team’s celebrations after a three-wicket victory over Worcestershire at New Road put the team in an unassailable position with two matches to go.”I said ‘if it doesn’t work kick me out, but if it does work then you can pat me on the back, even though it will be the players who have done it.'”Stewart’s way was to build a team based on homegrown players, which he believes had been the bedrock of Surrey’s 18 previous County Championships, including the three he enjoyed at the end of his career under Adam Hollioake’s captaincy.”I said from the start that we had to have a nucleus of home players,” he said. “It’s almost a unique club in that you’ve got to understand the club to work there I think.”If you produce your own players they fight together. If they come through the system, they understand what the club is about and they want to play for the club, which means that when things get tough they can find that little bit more, and when they win it means more to them.”So I decided pretty early on that I wanted to have that nucleus, to build a squad around homegrown players.”A clearout began almost immediately. Of the last team selected by Adams, only three – Jade Dernbach, Rory Burns and Arun Harinath – are still at the club. “I spoke to Gareth Townsend, the academy director, and said ‘right, who can we bring through?'” Stewart said.”I wanted to identify those players, and then supplement it with players coming in from outside. And that’s what we have done.”We brought in players like Scott Borthwick and Mark Stoneman and Rikki Clarke. People asked questions about Rikki Clarke’s age but I say it doesn’t matter, he’s a good cricketer.”We had Kumar Sangakkara, who scored eight hundreds but brought so much more that we now have a line that players ask themselves when they are in difficult situations: ‘What would Sanga do?’ And Morne Morkel, this year he has been the icing on the cake.”Stewart paid tribute to his squad but also to his team off the field.”It was important, too, to have the right people in place off the field,” he said. “So it was about appointing good people there, such as Graham Ford, an excellent person, and Michael Di Venuto, who has been outstanding and then people like Vikram Solanki making the transition from player into coach.”Under them this group of players have grown together. It’s a real shame Gareth Batty [Rory Burns’s predecessor as captain] is not here because he has played a massive part over the last four years and is running the second team today.”Of the side in action at Worcester, seven have come through the system. Clarke began his career at Surrey before leaving for Warwickshire. Stoneman, Morkel, Dean Elgar and Ben Foakes are the only exceptions.Surrey’s successes in their history have often sparked periods of sustained dominance and Stewart believes another could be in the offing.”It feels like this is going to be the start of something,” he said. “You don’t want this to be just a one-off and the toughest thing now is to follow it up with more success next year.”We will lose players to England so we have to make sure we have a good squad. We have already signed Jordan Clark and Liam Plunkett with that in mind. You have got to cover for what you are going to lose. We are going to lose the Currans, who will be off to the World Cup, Ollie Pope will be with England, Rory Burns will be with England – that’s for sure, I think.Burns is still awaiting that England call but clearly Stewart has faith it will come.”It’s nice to sit back now and watch this group grow together but the important thing is that they’ve got to continue to grow.”We will celebrate this success. وأوضح نادي آرسنال في بيان رسمي تعاقده مع الحارس الإنجليزي، تومي سيتفورد، خلال فترة الانتقالات الصيفية الحالية.

ووقع سيتفورد عقدًا لمدة 4 سنوات حتى موسم 2028 مع نادي آرسنال الإنجليزي، وبلغت قيمة انتقال سيتفورد من أياكس أمستردام إلى آرسنال، مليون يورو إلى جانب إضافات.

جدير بالذكر أن سيتفورد قد مثل المنتخب الإنجليزي من تحت 16 عامًا وحتى 20 عامًا.

وقال سيتفورد عبر حسابه على موقع “إنستجرام”: “أنا فخور جدًا بإعلان انتقالي إلى أرسنال، وأكثر فخرًا لأنني أستطيع الآن أن أطلق على نفسي لقب المدفعجي”.

It's not out of the ordinary in recent years for Guardiola's high-flyers to humiliate their rivals on their own patch, the gap between the two sides frightening and ever-growing.

It puts even more pressure on the shoulders of the Dutch head coach attempting to turn things around with the Red Devils, who continue to struggle and ultimately fold on the big occasion.

Five defeats from their opening ten matches in the Premier League is way off where an expectant Man United fanbase thought they would be under Ten Hag, the ex-Ajax head coach was meant to be the catalyst for change at Old Trafford when appointed.

Yet, it's pointing in the direction now of another managerial dismissal similar to the likes of Ralf Rangnick, Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Jose Mourinho before him – all unable to reach the heights expected of them.

The Red Devils could, therefore, look towards a serial winner to replace their current boss which would certainly appease the restless natives at the Theatre of Dreams – previous interest in Zinedine Zidane could well be reignited as a statement appointment.

First linked with a switch to Manchester in 2021 according to football journalist Duncan Castles of the Telegraph, the iconic Frenchman's name could well pop back up in the list of names rumoured to replace Ten Hag who remains on extremely thin ice.

Zidane's agent would reject multiple advances from the Red Devils at the time, the 51-year-old taking time out of football after departing Real Madrid.

Man United would eventually settle for Rangnick, another notable misfire in their ongoing back catalogue of failed managerial appointments.

But, with the pressure ramping up on Ten Hag to fix the situation at Man United fast, Zidane should well be in the running to finally come to Old Trafford as boss to turn around the fortunes of the underperforming giants.

Two years now out of the managerial game, you imagine Zidane will be raring for a return to the limelight and Man United could present the former Ballon d'Or winner turned head coach with an opportunity to find his feet again.

Zidane would raise the standards at Old Trafford tremendously, the 51-year-old determined to win at all costs which saw his Real Madrid teams dominate the Champions League – the Frenchman spearheading his elite group to three Champions League titles in a row, the third and final honour coming at the expense of Liverpool with Gareth Bale's overhead kick stealing the show in a 3-1 victory.

He has also never lost a game versus Man United in his entire managerial career, beating the Red Devils 2-1 in the 2017 Super Cup final to add another trophy to his extensive collection as Los Blancos manager.

Burning out at the Bernabeu eventually, Zidane could well fancy the opportunity to kickstart a resurgence at the Theatre of Dreams if he was to return to the cut and thrust of managing again. Ten Hag may well have won trophies in the Netherlands but he doesn't have the CV that one of France's greatest players possesses.

Expectations would have to be tempered somewhat. Ten Hag was meant to be this saviour-like figure for the Red Devils when swapping Amsterdam for pastures new in Greater Manchester and it hasn't gone according to plan whatsoever.

Zidane would have to navigate through choppy waters initially, with the Man United job arguably a poisoned chalice ever since Sir Alex Ferguson walked away from his post ten years ago.

West Ham United reportedly have their eyes on a "very" Man City-style player heading into the January transfer window.

West Ham's dip in form

David Moyes is under a bit of pressure heading into the new year, despite guiding West Ham to their first major trophy since 1980 back in May. The club's Europa Conference League title, courtesy of a dramatic late winner by star winger Jarrod Bowen, saw supporters line London's streets by the thousands to celebrate a fantastic achievement.

Cup competitions have been West Ham's forte this year, as they also now gear up for an EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Liverpool next month. However, in terms of league placement, their form leaves a lot to be desired.

Three Premier League losses on the bounce have resulted in West Ham sliding down the table, and after they battle relegation last season, there are reports of uncertainty surrounding Moyes' future in 2024.

The Scotsman is out of contract as things stand and media sources believe that it is "unlikely" Moyes will stay at West Ham beyond that point. In the meantime, though, maybe a solution to West Ham's domestic form can be found in the January transfer window.

West Ham transfer targets – January

It's been reported that a new striker is on the cards, with Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy and Bayer Leverkusen's Adam Hlozek among the rumoured West Ham targets for January.

As well as a new forward, reports in the last month suggest that the Hammers could go for a new centre-back. Indeed, Man United defender Harry Maguire is a possible signing for West Ham in this regard (Football Insider).

Aaron Cresswell and Ben Johnson's futures at the London Stadium are also shrouded in doubt given their deals expire at the end of this season, meaning West Ham may need to consider signing a new left-back.

West Ham now targeting Quentin Merlin

According to reliable club insider ExWHUemployee, as shared by the West Ham Way, Moyes is now interested in FC Nantes defender Quentin Merlin. The 21-year-old has been crucial to Nantes' success in recent years, prompting the Ligue 1 side to tie him down with a new deal which runs till 2026.

This hasn't deterred West Ham, though, who are apparently really keen on Merlin amid reported interest from other top clubs like Man City, Bayern Munich and Paris-Saint Germain.

According to WhoScored, the full-back is a mainstay for Nantes, having started all 11 of their French top flight matches this season while ranking among their best for key passes made per 90 in the final third.

The youngster has also been called a "very City-style player" by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, an expert on Europe's most head-turning talents to watch out for.

Na ocasião, em jogo válido pela11ª rodada do Brasileirão, em que o Flamengo venceu por 2 a 1 no Maracanã, Bruno Henrique acertara o rosto do volante Breno, que acabou sofrendo uma fratura no nariz após o choque.
